Cervicogenic (originating from the neck) headache is a result of functional or pathologic changes around the cervical blood vessels and the vertebral arteries in particular. Variety of causes may lead to a hyperactivation of part of the autonomous nervous system called sympathetic system. The end result is a vasoconstriction of those blood vessels which limits the blood flow. The following program mainly focuses on neck muscles relaxation which initiates a reflectory mechanism that brings back sympathetics to normal levels – this way the direct headache cause is eliminated. Headache is a typical symptom in many disorders. If your headache continues for several days and could not be relieved by our exercises given here or painkillers, you must see a doctor immediately!
