THIGH

The anatomical term thigh refers to the upper leg. It is connected to the pelvic girdle by the hip joint and distally articulates with the leg by the knee joint. Thigh skeleton is formed by the strongest bone in human body - the femur bone. Soft tissue is presented by 15 powerful muscle bodies, blood vessels and nerves, all wrapped up in a tight fascia and skin. Here also is the location of the strongest tendinous structure in human body - the Iliotibial band. Thigh plays an essential role in the overall kinetic chain of human locomotor system.
